3 Legged Thing Jack TripodThis is my favorite tripod! As I get older I definitely want things to weigh less and this new 3 Legged Thing tripod fits that bill perfectly. Its plenty tall, plenty short, plenty light & plenty sturdy. You can pick one up from the 3 Legged Thing website. Check out the video!

Update: Jack tripod holds 17 pounds...plenty for a pro body & 300 2.8.

Hey Greg,

Thanks for this tip! My current cheap travel tripod just broke a little while ago and I'v been in the market for something not so expensive, but good. After this video I looked at this as a viable purchase against the Manfrotto 055. After some thought, I decide that I will go buy the 3LT X1.1a Adrian 2nd Generation Tripod Kit - Blue. I think its perfect for me now and down the line I will get the either the Brian or Eric.

I appreciate what you do here and I'm glad you decided to go the route of making helpful tutorials. I'm a fashion/product photographer and you have helped me plenty in the past and my friends that I have directed to your site. Keep it up and since I will make the purchase at Adorama, I will e-mail '3 Legged Things' to let them know that this video influenced me in making the purchase.

How do you feel about a ball head vs a 3 way head?

I like using both, just depends on what I am doing.
