I'm stuck, I closed the FW2 folder in LR, and don't know how to get it back lol Man, am I a mess or what. I'll try that Jerry as soon as I can get FW2 to show up again. I hit the + folder, but it takes me to the import page. Sorry guys for all my confusion!!

Chris

Edit: Ok I got FW2 back. And Jerry, the drag and drop from FW1 to FW2 is working! It looks like I don't even have to use carbon copy as now FW2 All Pictures looks the same as FW1 All Pictures. I do believe I've got it! Fingers crossed.

Darn! It order to get the FW2 drive to be visible in LR, I did the import from FW1. It's taking all the files from that drive and putting it in FW2. Hopefully I can drag and drop it back onto FW1 and have both drives show all the files.

Edit: Well, drag and drop from 1 to FW2 just moves all the folders to FW1 and eliminates it from FW2.

Export your images to a folder on the desktop (or can you export the library?) I don't use lightroom so I don't how or what you can export as far as a library goes. Batch rename them or have lightroom rename all the files at time of export , then take that folder from the desktop, drag and drop to both drives, now you'll have the same files on both.

I can't use my desktop, it's a 300G SS hd.

I don't know what a SS hd is. Oh ya, one step I forgot to mention, when I am finished with the photos in aperture, i'll export the libary, create my 3 backups then delete it from aperture so i don't bog down the puter by leaving albums in it.

Solid state hd. And I quite yesterday after combining folders on FW2 and now it shows no files at all on that drive. I deleted all the files from FW1, but I can't do anything further until I figure out how to 'uncombine' that folder. Like I said, a real mess.

I just wanted to let everyone know I got it all worked out. It was slow and arduous, mostly learning the terminology and folder system, and a lot of reimporting files lol My FW1 is all organized, except for 2,600/5G of iPhoto .jpgs to go thru...might take me a yr lol
And I'm about to use carbon copy to backup the FW2 drive.

Thanks for the help again,

Chris
