Do you have any tips for kids photography?
Equipment needed

What about using flash? on camera and off camera or just off camera?

Special considerations to create a good ambient light?

Any other suggestions are welcome

Some of the best kids photos allow them to be a kid. Running around, playing with toys, climbing things, etc.

Okay, so let met critique that image :)

First, try to watch your camera position. Your horizon is not complete straight which pulls me off.. You can do that in camera by positioning it well, or do it in your post processing.

Second, you have cut of the hands which is a no go for me. There is a lot of space above her head, so if you pointed the camera more down, there would be more space for the hands and less "unused" space.

For some people, the look of the child would be a no go after reviewing the image, but i think its intresting to create a thought like: "What is she thinking".

So yeah... have another go for it :) Sorry for being harsh...

Greetings,
Roy

I'm late to the party again, but I like to sit down and play with the kids for a few minutes to get them warmed up to me. Then when I start taking pictures I keep showing them what they look like and make it a fun game.
