Hi:

I was asking about metering in another website, but haven't gotten any responses yet, hopefully i'll get some here.

Someone mentioned in the other site that TTL metering for portraits isn't a good idea and I should have my flash unit (a canon speedlite 4300ex II) do the metering, my question is: How do i get a reading from the flash unit rather than the camera? Do I just use manual mode on the flash?

Expose for ambient light 1st, then add flash using manual mode...adjust power/zoom as needed
