Hey All! I'm Kyle from Long Island or as some of the obnoxious people from here say Long Gisland. I just thought I'd take a few minutes and write a brief intro and ask you all what kind of gear you're shooting with (so i know which canon users to avoid :P Just kidding!!!)

I am an aspiring wedding photographer (started with nature but the cute little animals I shot never paid me so i have settled for capturing bridezillas in their natural habitat). I've slowed down my weddings tremendously because I'm trying to move out to the midwest and I didn't want to start things here and then have to restart them again out there.

I'm currently an organist in a church and I work in a music store. That's really it about me, i'm boring. Here's the gear list. Post yours I'd love to know what you're all shooting with!

Nikon d3s
Nikon d700 (with battery grip)
Black Rapid RS-7
Black Rapid Dr-1
Nikon 300 f/4
Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 vrII
Nikon 24-120 f/3.5-5.6
Nikon 20mm f/2.8
Nikon 16mm f/2.8
Tamron 90mm Macro
2 nikon Sb900
1 Nikon sb800
Think Tank retrospective 30 (pinestone)
Think Tank Airport Airstream
Think Tank Slingomatic 30
Think Tank Urban Disguise 50
I think that's it

Re: Welcome and Gear List 4 years 11 months ago #320

I did my intro in another topic, but here's my gear :)

I used to work with Sony/Minolta but I ran into problems using high ISO and low FPS, that combined with very expensive Sony/Carl Zeiss lenses plus the limited amount of lenses to choose from made me jump ship.

About 2 months now i bought myself the following "upgrade"

Nikon D700
Nikon MB-D10
Nikkor AF-S 24-70 F2.8
Nikon SB-910
Godox PB-820 ( external batterypack for the SB-910 )
Couple of EN-EL3e battery's
Hanging on the BlackRapid RS-Sport II
Manfrotto tripod with 3way Manfrotto head.

I also use the following equipment:

2 x Mettle 300w/s studio flash with softboxes, umbrella's etc.
Cactus V4 triggers
Small and wide multiple colour backgrounds
Dell 23"IPS monitor
Calibrating is done with Spyder 3 Pro and SpyderCube
Workstation consists out of homebrew Windows 7 pc running hardware RAID 6 and external drives for backup.
I don't do much photo-manipulation, I only use Lightroom to develop the RAW files and when going "extreme" I use Paint Shop Pro X3.

And because I like it, i use Praktica MTL-3 and TL1000 analouge camera's using 50mm lenses.
I shoot Kodak BW400NC en Ilford XP2 film in those.
Nikon FX body's and some Nikkor FX glass I believe...

Praktica 35mm analogue just for fun

Broke college student that is able to find good deal on good lenses.

nikon d90
nikon 35 f1.8g
nikon 24-70 f2.8g
nikon 70-200 f2.8 VR I
SB-600

Thinktank Retro10
Blackrapid rs-7

I use the 35 the most, but the 24-70 is always used when i need versatility. 70-200 is standard now, assisted in shooting 3 weddings this year, so it was a must.

Hello everyone, Most people call me Rowdy instead of Mike. Anyway, I got into photography a few years ago to photograph Military Dioramas that I build. Next thing you know the bug has got me and I want to be a full time photographer some day soon. I go to a lot of Civil War and WWII reenactments in the South east and really love to get some great shots. I live in Atlanta Ga. I shoot with...

Nikon D5000
Nikon D70s
Nikon 50mm 1.8
Nikon 40mm 2.8 macro
Nikon 70-200 2.8 ( just got this for Christmas and I am in love)
Nikon 18-70 3.5-4.5g (Hope to upgrade this before summer)
Tamron 70-300mm DI (great lens but don't see using it after getting the 70-200. Going to sell it)
Nikon SB-700
Black Rapid RS-5 (will be changing this over when I get paid next to an RS-7 as I like the way it hangs a bit better).
Think Tank Shape Shifter bag (great bag but sometimes a bit to much)
Manfrotto 190xprob Tripod
Manfrotto 324RC2 Head (I just got these and can not wait to use a good tripod for a change)
A few assorted lights and my wife bought be a backdrop for christmas to do some family portraits to start practicing.
