Would like to get opions on which is better. Looking to buy another lens and want to know your thoughts on which to go for. I know the first version is hard to come by for a nice used lens. I have a Nikon D-300. Thank you for your thoughts.

Hello,

If money is no object than the VRII would be the one to get as it focuses a little faster, sharp edge to edge and has no vignetting on a full-frame, which you don't have to worry about.

With that being said I still have the VR as I've used the VRII and I don't see enough of a difference to upgrade as of yet.

In your situation I would look at the VR as you'll only be using the center part of the glass with the D300 so the sharper at the corners won't mean nothing to you and you'll also have next to nothing with the vignetting if any at all. As for the focus speed, were talking about .02 of a difference, your not going to notice it.

Update, will have to learn how to take photos now with one leg and one arm.
(Just kidding) found a 70-200 vr in the local camera shop today, I'm sure I will get plenty of use out of it. 3-13-13
