What r ur thoughts about that. Which is better do you think 50-500 or the 150-500
I want to use it as a tele to continue my 70-200 after the 200 mark.

For me, I like having my lenses compliment each other and not overlap each other. Since you got the 70-200, just compliment it with the 150-500. My friend has that one and its extremely well built.

Hi Serdar,
what about a 300mm fix-lense? It could give you better quality than such a Mega-Zoom-Lense.
BTW: I´ve just realized, you are from Istanbul. What a wonderful city! Been there twice (longer ago) and loved it. A German Photographer, his name is Andreas Herzau, published a beautiful book about Istanbul. If you ever have the chance, check it out. And you know what? All pictures have been taken with a 50mm lense ;)

Thanks, for the info my friend. I will check andreas book. About istanbul dude, its a city that never sleep. I hope everyone can visit at once.

I will think about the 300mm lens. Let me check the price on that.

I'm actually in the market for the 150-500 myself. Everything I've seen and heard about the 50-500 is that the 150-500 is WAY better as far as image quality is concerned. The 150-500 is on my "short-list" for our follow-up trip to Yellowstone again this year.

I owned a 50-500 "BIGMA" for about 6 months before getting rid of it. Nice color/contrast when it was on, but it was extremely slow and the AF hunted a lot. (it's also something like a f/5.6 at 500)

Wanted a 300mm but couldn't afford Nikkor glass so I tried the Sigma 120-300 (OS version)

It's outstanding!

Guys thanks for the share.

Some of my friends told me go with the 50-500 instead of the 150 cause its better.

I find it stupid because I dont expect from a lens to have so large focal length and also having quality in all these focal lengts.

I am really happy I heard 150-500 is good.

So what are your brand thoughts about sigma and tamron. Is the quality good. How is the second hand etc..

I had one a year ago. I went on a safari in Tanzania and I could not have done without it. I had the D90 with the 50-500mm and it was perfect, even a bit short sometimes.

It is solidly built and heavy yes, so not too much walking around, but i loved it. I sold it because i've got no use of it on a daily basis.

images were sharp, focus was fast, it did what i needed it to do. Bought mine second hand for 500 euros, sold it again to someone else going on a safari for 500 euros.. perfect!
