Here's a rose I shot in my garden over the weekend. It's a macro shot using extension tubes and a manual lens(Canon FL 135mm 3.5). Camera was on a tripod and I used some fill flash. Please feel free to add your critique!

Crop it to 16:10 and add black space to the right and I'd make it my desktop wallpaper.
I like it :D

I think there is a lot of yellow. Maybe add a complimentary colour to the scene. Just my 2 cents. It's still a nice pic.

Hi Bill,

I'd close the aperture down a few stops to remove some of the over softening of the flowers edge, but have the background blown out and exposed more. Yes too much of the same colour also. B)

The flower looks very dry, spray some water on there too maybe
