I was on a fashion shoot today and the owners of the warehouse had an Old English Sheepdog called Oscar, so after the shoot I asked if I could take a couple of shots. I loved the expression in this shot.

I was running alonside Oscar. Shot 20130305 24mm on Canon 5D MKII 1/640th f6.3 ISO640

This is Badger the family pet and test subject. I think that he has had enough of the camera and flash in his face, which is starting to show in his expression.

Shot taken with a Canon 5D MarkII with a 24-105 @ 105mm. 1/200 f/8 iso 200 with off camera flash with a small soft box to his left.

These are my parent's dogs, Basil and Monty. My dad throws the ball to them every day at 5pm when he finishes work in his vineyard/winery.

These might be more action-shots rather than portraits. But Basil and Monty are farm dogs and as such, they are extremely active all day. I feel that a portrait should say a lot about the subject, so even though a sleepier dog (as you suggested, Greg) is nicer to photograph, I couldn't help but get a shot of these two dogs in their element.

I hope the images qualify, although even if they don't I'm very happy that I have them now, and I wouldn't if it wasn't for your influence Greg! I've been meaning to enter your challenges, so I finally got off my behind and did it. And now I have some photos that I'll keep forever. Thanks!

Having lost my guy to Heart Failure on 2/19 I don't qualify but he was my best subject... he'd sit patiently while i fumbled around with a 2 light setup.. or seemed to pop his head into frame at the perfect wrong (right) time.

I was at a friends house for a birthday party, although this Pitbull was very loving to his owner, he was a bit adversarial to being photographed. I was limited in posing and lighting, because every time I moved to a better vantage point, so did the dog. It was a challenge to get this,But that's what assignments are for, right ?
