Yes, his name is Cala, the Chinese Horned Dragon. =)
He lives in a Fish tank but I take him out daily. He is not very active so that is easy to shoot him.

Tips (Greg mentioned some already)
Shooting pets is very similar to shooting babies and small children. very unpredictable.
* keep low - get down to their level
* take lots of photos - With their eyes and head moving almost all of the time, it can sometimes be a numbers game, the more shots the better the chances of getting a great nano second moment.
*Take your dog for a walk first, it will slow him down. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE YOUR CAMERA WITH YOU!! - get different shots in different situations.
* Shallow depth of field - 5.6 is a great place to start
*Make sure the eyes are in focus.. And for dogs sometimes when the nose is out of focus is works, but sometimes it doesn't.. So its a good idea to get from the eyes to the nose in focus..
*Use a fast shutter speed - they move so quick

-In both of these images the dogs were actually on leashes and photo shopped out- But if you are doing this, try and get as little of the leash in the shot as possible so as you spend less time fixing them.

Great video Greg, I do this for a living, and it can be quite a challenge.
For your shots Greg, may i be so bold and say..
If I were taking these shots I probably would have gone lower and maybe a little closer, add a slight vignette, and drop the background out of focus, and taken the holster off, at least for a few images... But the lighting is great!
