Kathy, myself and three other #Cazillions photographed the Back On My Feet 5k race last weekend. We all had a blast even though it was cold and raining lightly towards the end of the event. In today's video I go over my equipment and thought process for photographing before, during and after the event. Keep Shooting!

Thanks for the tips Greg. I am in a 5 km run myself this weekend (called KM for Care) so unfortunately I will not be able to photograph it - hopefully someone will be there after seeing your tips :)

Out of curiosity, what does one get paid for an event such as this and how did you get the job?
Thanks Greg

I think one of the organizers of the event knew me through my videos. I won't disclose how much I made, but I have images for sale.

Right at the end of the video you talked about focus and shooting quickly from one person to the next. Were you moving the focus point around the frame with the controller at the back? If you were, I've tried this and can't seam to keep up with the constant changing focus point. One second it's on one side next it need to be on the other side, so how do you cope with this?

Practice! Moving points quickly will come with time and practice. Its definitely a skill that will come with time.

Many of the shots I didn't move the point in between frames, just recomposed to start tracking the next runner. Hopefully that helps.

Nice tips, Greg. We have a run in the area where I live tomorrow. The tips will come in handy when I take pictures of the event.

Do you use back button focus for your sports shots?
